You will meet your guide, Emma Rooney, outside the Grenadier Café entrance (200 Parkside Dr, Toronto, ON M6R 2Z3), located in the centre of the High Park.
15-minute walk from the High Park TTC Station
Car entrance is only from Parkside Drive (not Bloor).
Free parking is available in the parking lot around the café.
For your convenience, public washrooms are available inside the café.
Warm drinks and snacks may be purchased inside the café, before or after our forest bathing walk.
How to stay warm outside in winter:
Dress in multiple layers, especially non-cotton layers, such as wool or synthetics. This includes socks.
Always have a hat, ideally one that covers your ears.
Mittens will keep your hands warmer than gloves if you have them.
Bring a warm drink in an insulated cup or thermos.
Keep moving, try not to stand still for too long!
What to expect during the forest bathing experience:
We will be staying on marked trails, walking at a slow pace, and covering less than 1.5 km distance, but uneven terrain can be expected. Warm, non-slip footwear is recommended.
You may also want to have a reusable water bottle with you and a plastic bag, cushion, or kneeling pad to sit on the ground or bench (optional). Be aware that you will need to carry everything you bring on the walk.
If you get separated from the group during the walk, please return to the Grenadier Café. We will be ending our walk here as well.
Accessibility Level:
Forest Bathing is intended to be inviting, gentle, and accessible to all participants who want to experience nature in a new way. No prior experience with forest therapy, mindfulness, or naturalist knowledge is required. I’ll begin with a brief introduction to High Park and what forest bathing is, and then you’ll have a chance to try it.
